Reforged to allow refunds upon request • Eurogamer.net

Blizzard has changed its standard refund policy for Warcraft 3: Reforged to allow refunds upon request.

In a note on Battle.net, Blizzard said: “we want to give players the option of a refund if they feel that Warcraft 3: Reforged does not provide the experience they wanted.” This policy change is in place “for the time being”, the company added.

Blizzard’s real-time strategy remaster launched last week and received a largely negative reception. As I wrote in my Warcraft 3: Reforged impressions feature, expectations raised by trailers shown at previous BlizzCon events were not met. Additionally, the release of Reforged has scrubbed the original Warcraft 3 client from Battle.net – and even forced an update on those who own the original but have not bought Reforged.

To make matters worse, according to Blizzard’s custom games policy, any Warcraft 3 maps you make are the “sole and exclusive property of Blizzard”. This policy update, as you’d imagine, has gone down terribly within the Warcraft 3 mod-making scene.

Here’s Blizzard’s note on refunds:

“Blizzard stands by the quality of our products and our services. Normally we set limits for refund availability on a game, based on time since purchase and whether it has been used. However we want to give players the option of a refund if they feel that Warcraft III: Reforged does not provide the experience they wanted. So, we’ve decided to allow refunds upon request for the time being. You may request a refund here on our Support Site.”

So, for now, if you want a refund you’ll get one. Meanwhile, Blizzard has promised updates to the game that will hopefully improve matters.
