That’s a starting screen alright.
There seems to be a surge of activity from fans of the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima after a photo of the starting screen for the game has been shared online. The art on the starting screen itself isn’t new apparently, but what is new is that Shuhei Yoshida believes that the game will be his game of the year 2020.
Dan Allen, an Australian YouTuber yesterday shared a photo of the starting screen from Ghosts of Tsushima, as you can see below. At the moment, many are marveling at it with the impression that this is the first time we’ve seen the starting screen for the anticipated title from Sucker Punch Productions shared online. However, a user shares a photo of a booth for the game at what appears to be at E3 2018 if the Gamesindustry.biz plague reading “One to watch: E3 2018” is anything to go by.
Of course, perhaps the E3 screen was just a presentation screen, not a functioning starting screen. After all, the image from Dan Allen shows the button prompt which shows it’s certainly functioning as you’d expect a starting screen to…well, function. Of course, there’s always room for this to change prior to release, and likely isn’t the final version. If it is, it looks rather nifty and relaxing.

Additionally, Justin Massongill, content communications at PlayStation earlier this month shared his excitement for the release date of Ghost of Tsushima which saw a response from Shuhei Yoshida, the former head of Sony Worldwide Studios. The response was “I have a feeling that this will become my GOTY 2020.”

So while the starting screen situation seems to be exciting fans, what are your thoughts? Do you think Ghost of Tsushima will also be your GOTY 2020 when it lands on PS4 July 17.
